In April 2008, Chrissie was awarded international certification as a Certified Advanced Résumé Writer (CARW) by Career Directors International (CDI). Recognition as a CARW sets her apart from the competition and positions her to better assist her clientele by providing a standardised level of résumé writing excellence. What is a Résumé? The dictionary defines résumé as a ‘summing up’ or ‘summary’. Boring, isn’t it? It doesn’t show that it is a compilation of somebody’s skills and experience, goals and aspirations, achievements and strengths. More than that, a résumé is a highly valuable tool that can be the make or break at the first point of contact with a recruiter. Résumé Writers – How am I Different? Unfortunately, there are many who offer professional résumé writing services using outdated, tired-looking formats. Résumés need to be more effective than that to capture a recruiter’s attention.
As a résumé writer, I have adopted the approach that a résumé should be alive and compelling, that they should capture and promote your strengths and achievements (not merely list what you have done) and really stand out from the crowd with a concise and professional layout.
Strategically produced in a modern format, I will ensure that a recruiter can clearly see what you know, who you are, what you have to offer and precisely what this means to the target position and company. Did You Know There Are Standards of Professionalism and Excellence In The Résumé Industry? Sadly, not many do – including some recruiters. But there are standards and the résumé you have become used to – that many companies and individual writers produce – may not be adhering to those standards of excellence. There was a time when I knew nothing of this standard of professional excellence either. However, after spending time learning about the industry, I also undertook a course in résumé writing conducted by one of the few internationally accredited résumé writers in Australia, a course that introduced me to and gave me skills in producing the kinds of résumés I once would never have imagined – highly effective documents to make recruiters sit up and read.
After completion of the course, I became a member of Career Directors International (CDI), an international career development association. By completing an intensive examination and professional writing process to assess industry knowledge and résumé writing skill, I was awarded with a Certified Advanced Résumé Writer (CARW) by CDI.
